SHAMS DAY PARTY
Saturday, May 18, 2024 at 4:00 PM UTC - 10:00 PM UTC
Join us on May 18th to dance to the beats of three of London's Arab musical talents in a day party in the beautiful space of the Interlude in Dalston. And because we're family, feel free to BYOB. Line up: Rashad Fakhouri - Originally from Beirut, Lebanon, rashad brings culltural influences to the turntables. Raised in a household where music, especially jazz à la Ziad Rahbani, was a constant presence, he developed a deep appreciation for the diverse sounds of the city's nightlife. While his experience lies in architecture, his passion for music shines through as he spins tracks that reflect the lively atmosphere and rich musical heritage of Beirut's nightlife scene. Hawazin O - Hawazin Alotaibi is a London-based, Saudi-American interdisciplinary artist,, DJ and music producer. She achieved her BA in Painting at the University of the Arts London, and her MA in Painting at the Royal College of Art. We featured a series that scrutinized the gender conditioning she experienced growing up in Saudi Arabia, and examined the new age of masculinity in the Gulf. Nihal - Influenced by her hometown Cairo’s underground scene, London-based writer and researcher Nihal selects contemporary left-field hip hop, drill, drum & bass and experimental sounds from the Middle East and North Africa capturing the organic crossovers traversing the region. Looking forward to seeing you again, and feel free to send us a DM if you have any questions.
